Translanguaging for the Non-Believer

It can be difficult to figure out what students do and do not know when we are unable to communicate with them in their preferred language.

Don’t let your own linguistic limitations prevent you from fostering growth and feeding intellectual curiosity in your classrooms! When students can access their full range of linguistic abilities, they feel more capable, and experience greater academic success.

In this session, we will learn more about how translanguaging can be a win for everyone.

“Tough Compassion” in the Classroom

We know how important establishing predictability is for helping students feel confident and secure in our classrooms. For teacher, this task can feel insurmountable when trying to navigate constant changes outside of your classroom and beyond your control. When things feel overwhelming, equitable implementation and clear boundaries can be a game changer, particularly for English Learners.

In this session, we will explore strategies, challenges, and solutions that will positively impact your classroom climate. Specific focus will be on classrooms with a variety of language abilities.
